Retirement & Saving
A goal next year and a retirement decades away need different assumptions. Start with when you need the money, how much uncertainty you can accept, and the reserve you want available for unexpected expenses.
Plan a cash reserve and savings goal ↗
Test your own reserve target, contributions and deadline. The APY is hypothetical, not a live bank offer or an account recommendation.
Explore retirement savings ↗
Estimate a target using your spending and withdrawal assumptions. A simple estimate is a starting point, not a guarantee that a portfolio will last.
Understand contribution growth ↗
See how time, regular contributions and an assumed return interact. Market returns vary and invested money can lose value.
Choose assumptions you can explain
- Separate your deadlines. Cash needed soon and long-term retirement money should not be modeled as if they have the same risk and time horizon.
- Check what a number includes. Taxes, fees and inflation can change the spending power of a projected balance. Read each tool’s assumptions and exclusions before comparing results.
- Try less favorable scenarios. A lower return, a later start or a pause in contributions can reveal how sensitive your plan is. Fixed rates cannot capture market volatility or the order of returns.
- Revisit your inputs. Update the model when your income, household needs or deadline changes. These tools do not choose an account, investment or allocation for you.
